About the “Author”

OR: All the Moose That’s Fit to Print!

“It is easy in the world to live after the world’s opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson, Self-Reliance (1841)

To Those Who Don’t Know Me!

Original – This here’s a repository for the scribbled ramblings and rare amateur phot-ee-graphs of a man who has found literature and nature to be the best tools for keeping personal balance in a psychologically demanding line of work.

Updated – As of March 2022, I am untethered from the previous decade of career and making an attempt at experiencing some of those things I missed out on in my 20s. In addition to the photography and writing, there’ll be poetry and fiddle and projects and other what-nots here as well.

To Those Who Do!

This site is also intended to serve as my surrogate for social media. Bookmark this humble blog, friends and family, as a reminder to yourself that “he exists!”

About the Bird

The Hermit Thrush is our state bird, considered by Walt Whitman to be symbolic of the American voice.

There’s a fine fluted warble.
